What Will You Learn
You will get a basic understanding of the DICOM standard. The architecture, communication protocol, and DICOM services such as Store, Print, and the interaction of a device with an information system and/or archive will be explained. A DICOM message showing the "header" information will be shown so that participants can interpret these in the future for troubleshooting and/or implementation purposes. Additional important DICOM features including security, compression and image quality will be covered as well. DICOM conformance statements will be used extensively as examples. Who Should Attend
Anyone who wants to learn about the DICOM standard, ranging from people that deal with the standard on a high level such as managers, end-users and chief engineers, to implementers that want to get an in-depth knowledge of the standard and learn how to use the standardization documentation. This is a two day seminar. Your instructor is also available during lunch for informal discussions about your specific area of interest. What Is Included

Certification towards a Certified PACS System Administrator can be done after taking the DICOM Basics, DICOM Hands-on and HL7 Basics as well as HL7 Hands-on by taking the on-line CPIA exam of the PACS certification Association (PARCA), see www.pacsadmin.org for more details.
