IMPORTANT: This training is either delivered as a face-to-face training or Virtual (synchronous by the instructor over the Internet). See schedule below to determine if the seminar you are signing up for is face-to-face or virtual.

This instructor-led on-line training is delivered in 2 days, with each day split up in 2 blocks of 3 hours with a lunch in between. This on-line bootcamp consists of two components, i.e. both the clinical and IT skills needed to support medical imaging and IT systems such as PACS, EHR and other image intensive systems. The curriculum follows the requirements of the Certified PACS Associate (CPAS) (see pacsadmin.org for details).

The clinical component includes several samples of actual clinical images to demonstrate the clinical aspects as well as the characteristics of digital modalities such as CT, MR, US, NM, etc. It also covers clinical terminology and anatomy in the context of medical imaging. You will acquire skills that allow you to converse with medical staff, understand their "language" and information that is typically required to support these clinical systems.

The IT component of this course covers the hardware and software components of healthcare imaging and IT systems which allows potential candidates to support and troubleshoot these components.

Note: This course is a "blended learning" course. Students will receive a study guide prior to class and are expected to study these materials as the class is very high paced and will cover only the most critical and complex domain areas.

Detailed Learning Objectives

You will get a basic understanding of IT concepts that are needed to support a medical imaging environment such as used in a PACS or electronic medical record (EMR or EHR) system. You will acquire skills that allow you to perform basic troubleshooting and learn how to use different computer systems, and Operating System environments. The clinical component will teach you the skills to converse with medical/clinical staff and learn about digital modalities and medical terminology.
